Hogan, Laguna, Tulum, and Cliff Dwelling are all historic sites and all the places were inhabited by Indians at some point and time. Laguna and Cliff dwellings were both inhabited by the pueblo Indians. While Laguna was inhabited by the Mayans and Navahos inhabited the Hubbell area. In Laguna and the Cliff Dwellings, once the English came the Indians were forced to follow their rule. Though, in Tulum, once the English came, the Mayans were killed off by the Old World diseases and the Navahos were terrorized to leave their land since the English believed there was gold in that area. Unlike the Mayans, the Navahos were invited back to their land after they were forced to leave. The Hogan trading post is actually built on the Navaho reservation. Tulum and Hogan were both trading centers. Tulum was a major trading center on the Yucatan Peninsula through both land and sea. The Hogan Trading post supplied the Navahos with a way to readjust to their life after returning from exile.
