Travis has one mutt, whereas Billy has two coon hunting hounds. The ways they acquired their dog or dogs also differ. Old Yeller wandered onto Travis’s family’s property. Billy did something much harder. He saved up money for two years, and he walked barefoot for many miles to get his pups. Regarding the boys’ beliefs, Travis believes he needs to be tough for his family. This may because he lived in the 1860’s. Billy’s beliefs are totally different (shown by his actions). Billy cries when he is happy, sad, sympathetic, or mad. He might feel a little less restricted because he lives in the 1930’s. Travis was shown as a “man” in authority. Whereas, Billy was shown as a boy with ambition. These are just the major differences between the boys.
As you have seen, both boys have many similarities and differences. They both have dogs, but they got them in different ways. They both live in older times than ours, but their beliefs are as opposite as the sun and the moon. They are both spectacular, kind people.
