In The Adventures of Tom Sawyer ,Tom, along with his friends Joe Harper and Huckleberry Finn decide to run away from home because they feel that they are unloved and unwanted. In Chapter 13, they decide to escape to an island called Jackson’s Island to become pirates. Their decision has a major impact on the people around them who in fact do love them and care a great deal about them. Constancia and Tom seem to have little or no respect for authority and boundaries. Both can only see how situations are affecting them; they do not seem to realize that there are more factors to consider. Tom needs to take into account his family and how they will feel about his decision to run away. Constancia needs to understand that sometimes many individuals have to make sacrifices in order for a family to run smoothly. In both stories, the young people have a lot to learn, yet they both feel they know everything there is to know about
