Comparing The Wolf: Thyrsus, Libra, And Centaurus

Decent Essays
The Wolf is my favorite constellation. I like the Wolf because wolves represent strength and wisdom. The Wolf constellation is better known as the Lupus constellation. Lupus is surrounded by five other constellations; Scorpius, Norma, Circus, Libra, and Centaurus. Lupus was once thought to be a part of Centaurus but later was recognized as its own constellation.

The Lupus constellation represented an unknown beast being impaled. Lupus is shown impaled on a spear called thyrsus, Lupus is being impaled by Centaurus which is why they are often seen as a joint constellation.

Lupus was running from a brave hunter called Centaurus, Lupus was the fastest and largest wolf on the earth and no hunter had managed to hurt him yet. Lupus was afraid

Although John Taylor and Howling Wolfs may be the most known illustration of what happened that day there are more people that did their own illustrations. The other picture I found was made by John Howland and then there was another one by James Taylor. These show the more than one point of view of the peace treaty meeting. Between the two pictures I feel as John Taylors seems more naturalistic.…

Introduction The reintroduction of the Mexican Gray wolf into the southwestern United States has been a subject of large controversy in the past few decades. They first became protected by the Endangered Species Act of 1976; this species that had numbers in the thousands only a few decades earlier had become completely extinct in the United States (Southwest Wildlife). In 1960 the population dropped to seven, and yet there were still no efforts to implement their recovery as a species for 16 more years. Currently the goal of the United States Fish and Wildlife Service is to expand the population in the wild to at least one hundred (Bergman).…

The Childen and the Wolves by Adam Rapp: This book was unique compared the others I have read this summer. In the book, three teenagers kidnap a 3-year-old and keep her captive in a basement for several months. Unlike other books with a similar plot the book is not focused on the little girl, each chapter the point of view changes from one character to another. Two boys that go by the names Wiggins and Orange, a girl named Bounce and the little girl known as Frog. This book was very chilling and truly showed how evil and crafty some teenagers can be without proper role models around.…

More than six millions Jews were brutally executed in Nazi Germany, but before Hitler had gotten control of Germany, he used the fear of communism to gain power and control. That fear would help forge a world of violence and savagery that will never be forgotten. Similarly, Lord of the Flies is a book in which Jack, uses the other boys’ fear of a beast to turn their society into disorder and cruelty. In Lord of The Flies, William Golding uses Jack and the symbol of the Beast to convey how fear ultimately brings the downfall of moral civilizations, and spawns violence and savagery as a method of combating the fear.…
