One of the most important points for the development of society is education. Nowadays many countries try to develop their education by their own rules, but this development process is intended for the system. This system varies from one country to the other.
This essay demonstrates the education system in France and the United Kingdom; also making aspects of differences and similarities between both systems. In England, education gives a stronger and promoted an individual education, which has historically considered the students according to their needs their personal capacities specific, requiring different types and levels of decision school. (Broadfoot and Osborn 1993).
In contrast, in France, education based to the republican idea which provide equal opportunities for all. (Osborn et al.2003).
Schools are compulsory for all children between five and sixteen in both countries and have free education; the government funded the tuition fees. Both UK and France school are similar in sense that they both have public and private schools. Also, student has to take exams to enter university. Then, UK and France are similar in school calendar start in September and finish in July.
France children have to attend school from age of 6 to 16 on the UK children attend school from the age of 5 to 16. In UK, the school day starts from Monday to Friday and has one shift which starts 9:00am to 3:30pm. The second difference is the subject. In United Kingdom from secondary school depending on the school when you start your GCSE’s similar to baccalaureate (French exam) you choose the subject you want to do including the compulsory subject’s, however in France, all subjects taking the grade general. Consequently, it is not possible to put away the subjects which students find more challenging, whereas in the English stands away, in France all subjects count to the final result, although on a sliding scale according to the type of grade.
