Poe experienced the death of the few people he allowed himself to have relationships with. While he viewed himself to be smarter and more gifted than many of the other people he saw every day, some may believe he had a small hatred for himself. Edgar Allan Poe’s alcoholism showed how he hated himself to the point he was completely fine with drinking himself to death. In fact, on October 3, 1849, a person found him near a park bench alone and delirious and when he was sent to the hospital for help he officially died on October 7th of the same year. The death he experienced ended just as the rest of his life was.
In the novel Frankenstein the creature vows to destroy Victor Frankenstein’s life if Dr. Frankenstein does not make a companion for the creature. Since Victor broke his promise, the creature finds Victor and intentionally begins to destroy and kill people Victor care for. The creature starts with Victor’s friend Henry and then ends with his wife Elizabeth. When Victor is on the ship he passes away and the creature comes aboard and plans to commit suicide, because he is even more alone now. The creature then decides venture north and wander aimlessly, destined to be alone
