Comparing The Song 'I Think I' Ll Just Stay Here And Drink

Country singers are well known for drowning their sorrows with alcohol. Merle Haggard displays this with “I Think I’ll Just Stay Here And Drink” for in the songs he try’s to drink away the pain that his love caused him. In the beginning of the song Haggard realizes that she does not care about him or his opinions and that he loving for the both of them. After he realizes that his love does not love him back he try’s to drinking to easy the pain. Through out the song drinking does help him for “Since lovin' you, don't feel no pain My mind ain't nothin' but a total blank.” It seems as he finally drinked his worries away and his pain is healed as love as he is drinking.
