Comparing The Seven Hats Of The President Of US

The President of the United States of America has more duties than we think. In fact, the President wears seven hats, all of which are equally important. Five of the seven hats include Chief Executive, Chief of State, Chief Legislator, Commander-in-Chief, and Foreign-Policy Chief. All of these hats describe the President’s powers and jobs. These hats are divided into political, economic, and social branches. The Chief Executive is the head of the executive branch of government. He carries out and enforces laws passed by Congress and rulings by the Supreme Court. The President also manages the executive branch and appoints cabinet members, federal judges and justices, and other federal officials. An example of a previous President using this power is when in January of 1861, Abraham Lincoln didn’t appoint Simon Cameron due to Lincoln’s Presidential judgement. …show more content…
An example of this power in use is in 2002 when President George W. Bush gave a speech at the Pentagon in honor of the 184 people who died on September 11, 2001. Through the speech, he made some clarifications and “honored each name and each life…” The Chief Legislator is the power the President is given to affect Congress’ decision about a law. Some of his roles are that he signs or vetoes legislation, introduces legislation, and works with Congress on the budget.
