Nearly all the characters in this film have some sort of violent background; there are soldiers, bounty hunters, criminals, and executioners. The story is fueled by the idea of seeing Daisy Domergue, a female fugitive criminal, being hanged for her crimes. However more forms of violence ensue. Throughout the film Domergue is constantly being hit, and even cuffed against her will by John Ruth. Major Marquis Warren, an african american bounty hunter, shows multiple forms of violence throughout the movie. Warren kills Bob, Jody, and Smithers all in the haberdashery. Warren even recounts freezing, raping, and killing General Smithers son before murdering him. During the Civil War, Warren even burns down a confederate prison, killing both confederates and union soldiers. Every situation that Warren is thrown into is solved with violence. Whenever Warren is faced with a racial issue, violence is usually the outcome. When dealing with confederates and “negro hunters”, Warren has no issue murdering racists. John Ruth and the gang of Domergue criminals solve their financial problems with violence; by either capturing or robbery. Oswaldo’s

Stories of maids being abused by their employers, Hilly “helping” Yule May get four years in prison, and Robert Brown being beaten when it was discovered he used a white bathroom by mistake are examples of violence in the book. The change from racial inequality is prevented by violence being used against the black community by the white populations. Stockett uses the violence and racial tension from that time period in the book to add emotion and drama to the story, but it also shows how dangerous change is; anyone who tries to make a change or anything relative to change would be in serious…

There are no cowboys or savage Indians tormenting or being tormented, there is simply a task at hand having to do with their tradition. Rather than a film with hero John Wayne protecting the Wild West from the ambushing Indians, the audience sees Indians minding to themselves and fulfilling their own customs. The film emphasizes family over the little violence and prejudices taking place. This also takes place in the contemporary 20th century, while most of the notorious and stereotypical fashions of Native Americans were place in the 19th century classic Westerns. The elements that usually create a Western are not present in this film, there may be hints towards the past Westerns, such as the comment on cowboys and John Wayne, but no other part brings out the essence of a Hollywood…

Would you ever think a member of the Nazi party would save over a 1,000 Jews during the holocaust? Because Thomas Keneally’s novel and Steven Spielberg’s film, Schindler’s List is the account of one such individual. Oskar Schindler was a German manufacturing tycoon in occupied Poland who decides to hire and protect his Jewish workers from certain death in labor camps. In the novel, Thomas Keneally shows Oskar Schindler’s roguish and rebellious personality by describing his manner and appearance with descriptive language, characterization, and dialogue whereas in the movie, Spielberg does this through expositions, point of view shots, and shot reverse shot. Between the two tellings of the same story, there is a common theme in the presentation: attention to detail.…

Here, Harper Lee shows that one injustice outcome based on racism can lead to unwanted and deadly violence. Lastly, since Atticus defended Tom Robinson against Bob Ewell, Bob tried to kill Atticus’ children when they were walking home. This was the biggest violent incident of the whole novel and would have been the “final solution” for Bob Ewell. Once again, Harper Lee shows that many other smaller incidents can create tension and lead to a more significant episode of violence. Due to all of this rapidly increasing tension, it is easy to see that violence can build upon itself just as quickly.…
