Have you ever acted in a certain way and then later changed your attitude or outlook based on events or situations that have taken place.? In the novel , The Pearl, written by John Steinbeck and the fictional short story “The treasure of Lemon Brown” by Walter Dean Myers,this is exactly what happens. The pearl is about a man named kino who finds a large pearl to help his son who was stung by a scorpion. How ever every man in the village tries to steal the pearl from him. So kino changes completely from attitude which leads to the death of his son. “The Treasure of Lemon Brown” is a story about Greg Riley who wants to play for the school basketball team. Greg had already asked if the could play for the team but his dad said that he would have to wait until the report card came,and when it did, his dad wasn't so happy about his grades. So Greg had to chose from getting lectured from his dad or run down the street without studying. “Greg pushed the button over the bell marked “Ridley” thought of the lecture the knew his father would give him, and smiled.” When Greg met lemon brown they talked about how he lost his son and his wife and that Greg should really not argue with his dad because the only thing that he is trying to do is help greg in getting better life. That the should listen to his dad and get better grades because that will make his dad very happy and might even let him play in the basketball team. So Greg actually changed for the better and is now happy with his dad helping him with his school.
