Between the movie 10 things I hate about you And the book the taming of the shrew, the plot in the book in the movie is very different. There are many different broad points, where it took place, who was there, And how everything happened. The book all they wanted was a wife and money in the movie they wanted a girl and they also want a prom date. There are many differences, but in the end all of the relationships end in happiness.
The differences seen in the two interpretations are due to changes in the time period. In the play the main plot is back in time and they are in Padua and they are trying to find this girl a husband so they can get to her younger sister. In the movie it is a lot different like he really tried he dressed nice and this has been repeated but it is true the time period is different and if that happened now a days it definitely would have happened differently. in the book you can tell that it is at a nice place and how it all went down and he showed up late on a ugly horse in ugly clothes “Petruchio is coming in a new hat and an old vest, a pair of old pants turned inside out, unmatched boots that have been used as spittoons, one buckled, the other laced” you can tell that it is going to be a ugly marriage and in the movie he asks her and he really means it and he shows up looking good he really likes her he is not just using her for her money or something like that.
