Comparing The Monkey's Paw And The Third Wish

Have you ever wondered what you would wish for if you got three wishes and what the wishes outcome would be? Well in the stories “The Monkey’s Paw” by W.W Jacobs on page 85 and “The Third Wish” by Joan Aiken on page 101 found out what it would be like and the outcome was not what they were inspecting. The purpose of this essay is to show the differences and similarities between “The Monkey’s Paw” and “The Third Wish” on what the characters wished for and why, what was their third wish and its consequences then the mood of the stories.
The first difference between the stories are what the characters are wishing for and why but there is also a similarity in their second. The Whites first wish is for a thousand dollars or two hundred pounds so they can pay off the house on page 91. The consequence of this wish is that Herbert their son at work gets killed by machinery than a stranger comes while the Whites are waiting for Herbert to come home for breakfast. The stranger tells them the bad news on page 93. But because his work is sorry for their loss they give them a thousand dollars or two hundred pounds. So their wish was granted but as a consequence they lost their son. But because they are alone and are sad that he died their second wish is for him alive again because they are

“The Monkey’s Paw” mood is sad because their son died and it’s creepy because the monkey's paw is creepy because it's magic and Mr.White said it moved in his hand and how can something move in your hand if it's dead? “The Third Wish” is mood is love because his first and second wishes are based on love and even though his wife is a swan her and her sister still walk and talk to him because his wife still loves him and even though people thought he was crazy he still talked to them and let them follow
