We have almost the same scenario in our reading from Plato in his example of his cave allegory. For these people all they have ever known is what they have been able to see directly in front of them. Nothing else has ever existed so why would anyone believe anything ever would change? It would not occur to them to think that anything else would exist outside of their world. However, where is the excitement in that? Live would become dull and predictable. Nothing would change, one cannot grow unless there is change going on around us. The desire to improve ourselves would disappear. It would be like everyone was a carbon copy. This is not the life I want to lead or have my children live. I want them to live and grow as a person, family, society and planet. If we never grew intellectually we would still be in caves without heat or medicine. We have advanced tremendously since the beginning of time. We also, have to remember that God has given us free will to make our own choices and decisions.
