When we think you knowing something we tend to think of what we believe in. It could be something as small as a mathematical equation or something as big as knowing whether or not God exist. Either way everyone has a belief that turns into knowledge. There are a number of ways to be justified in believing each belief that we have, but the question of whether it is the truth arises. We could think about some different readings like The Matrix, The Republic, and Meditation evolving whether or not knowing the truth is reliable or just a dream. While some differences between The Matrix, The Republic, and Meditation are noticeable, the similarities are striking.

When I think of the truth I often refer to the saying “The truth shall set you free.” When I think of this saying I think about how the prisoner was happier once he has found out the truth. One the other hand I could see where Cypher would want to just forget everything and go back to living his normal life. I also see a few problems with forgetting the truth behind the Matrix. If Cypher would forget he would be living a life of illusion with no reality. I think I would want to know the truth behind life even if it would be sad. When Neo had found out the truth he had trouble, but accepted and teamed up with Morpheus to discover the truth about the Matrix. I think that if I had been Neo I would also be said, but have a relief also knowing the truth. Even if the truth may be sad or hurtful I would feel better knowing and also I would know why something did not feel right in the beginning like Neo had stated. I do not think that “ignorance is bliss” because you would be living a life no worth living. I person should search for the truth and with that search there may be some heart breaks along the way, but in the end maybe a sign of relief and a search for a possible fix to the problem. I think that the saying “The truth shall set you free” goes a long way towards not only telling the truth, but also knowing the

It was a few years ago when I was young and wise, that someone my age but older stood and claimed jubilantly, "Ignorance is Bliss", the wonderfully dreadfully, perfect mistake people make. What is so blissful about not knowing, better yet, purposely not wanting to know truth? The idea that Ignorance is Bliss makes sense to most, I mean, yeah, the truth can hurt but think about it. Removing a band-aid fast is far better than doing so in a slow and agonizingly painful manner. The difference with knowing is that pain is temporary, pain is understood, pain shapes the future.…

What is it to know something? In evaluating arguments, one need to check for both validity and soundness. To know that an argument is sound, one has to know that the premises—or the supporting statements—are true. But is it even possible to know something? The study of what knowledge is and whether it is possible falls within a subfield of philosophical inquiry called EPISTEMOLOGY.…

As William Shakespeare, the most famous Elizabethan writer and playwright said, “Ignorance is the curse of God; knowledge is the wing wherewith we fly to heaven.” In this, having knowledge, is to be able to find a higher state of being, and to be ignorant means that one is grounded and cursed, unable to leave. William Shakespeare, the man who wrote Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Julius Caesar, and so many more works, is believed to one of the smartest and most enlightened men to live. He is remarkable because he lived in a time where most people were uneducated. Just as in “Allegory of the Cave” by Plato and The Matrix by the Wachowski sisters, there is a prisoner in both who do not understand that they are prisoners, then freed to be enlightened.…

Yet it does not guarantee the absolute truth as the pill is designed to wake one up from the Matrix, not to provide information about what is actually real. It is still possible for them to be believing in a false reality because their brain is being overwhelmed by evidence attained through the senses, while the mind is subconsciously trying to relay the truth and is what makes experiences and surroundings real. After the jump program, Neo states “I thought [the Matrix] wasn 't real”, to which Morpheus replies, “Your mind makes it real” (The Wachowski Brothers & Silver, 1999, Scene 60). As seen in the movie, if one believes in something enough, it becomes hard for one to differentiate it from reality, showing the power held by the…

Human knowledge of God or any transcendental reality succumbs to subjectivity, which creates different forms of beliefs and disbeliefs. Absolute religious knowledge is not possible, but subjective knowledge of God can help create a personal relationship with a Supreme Being. According to Bertrand Russell, there are two kinds of knowledge: knowledge of truths and knowledge of things. Knowledge of truths is “the sense in which what we know is true”, while knowledge of things is “the sense we know sense-data” (28, Russell).…
