“Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” is the first movie in the Harry Potter series stemming from the popular J.K. Rowling books. In this first Harry Potter movie, Harry discovers that he is in fact, a wizard, and goes off to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where he faces many daunting tasks as he uncovers the truth of his dark and dangerous past. The research done on this particular movie examines Potter as the hero, traces his hero’s journey through the Call to Adventure, Refusal of the Call, Approaches the Inmost Cave, The Road Back, and the Return with the Elixir steps in his journey, defines Potter as an epic hero, and analyzes Neville Longbottom as a symbolic archetype. Potter is obviously the hero in this series. He
