“The most infamous serial killer you’ve never heard of” (Cobb). The Hammersmith Nude Murderer, or also known as Jack the Stripper was a serial killer in the 1960s. This infamous murderer got their name for being very similar to Jack the Ripper for the simple fact that both murderers killed prostitutes. They were also similar for the fact that both caused terror in London, though their killing methods were different they were both feared by the public. The famous murderer known as “Jack the Stripper” killed six to possibly eight women asphyxiation during deep throat fellatio (Cobb). The first confirmed victim of this serial killer was Hannah Tailford who was originally from a northwest mining family. Her dead body was found February 2, 1964. Hannah was thirty years old at the time of her death. Her body was found stripped of all clothing except her stockings hanging at her ankles, and was found in the river close to the Hammersmith bridge in London. Many of her teeth were missing and her underwear was found shoved down her throat, but her cause of death was drowning(Lawrenson). Before Harold they had believed it was a boxing heavyweight champion Freddie Mills, but that was ruled out when they realized the coincidences with Harold Jones. Harold was living in Fulham at the time of the murders. He moved there after being released from jail. Harold was jailed for twenty years after murdering an eight year old and eleven year old girl.
