“Years passed, the tortures continued, and Prometheus bore the cruelty of Zeus.” This quotes comes from “The Firebringer” which is a sad story of Prometheus, a man who started fire in the Earth for the first time. Prometheus had to bore the cruelty of the god of the gods, Zeus, for years because he brought the fire to the earth. A great poet, Maurice Lesemann transforms the story “The Firebringer” into a very short but meaningful poem and he gives it a title “Prometheus.” Lesemann transforms the story by taking the main points from the story and putting them into a meaningful poem and the poem differs from the story for some part; to list the differences, the poem starts from the point where Prometheus gets …show more content…
The story demonstrates all the background information on Prometheus and why he was punished by Zeus but the poem simply starts in the middle where Zeus punishes Prometheus. Lesemann also made humans sound authentically bad in the poem by not saying who freed Prometheus but just ends the poem by saying that the men were enjoying the fire that Prometheus took to the earth and no one came to help me, but in the story, it says Hercules freed him and restored him to liberty. In addition, Lesemann also leaves out the information on how brave Prometheus was but in the story, it states that Prometheus was very strong and brave. However, in the story, it says that Prometheus was brave enough to give his own life for the future of the people but never talks about this point in the poem. Therefore, Lesemann transforms the story of Prometheus by starting the poem from middle of the story, leaving out all the background information, by making humans sound really bad and took out the information about Prometheus
