Comparing The Firebringer And Johnny Appleseed

The two stories, “Firebringer” and “Johnny Appleseed” share the same plot, but they are different. In “The Firebringer” by Louis Untermeyer, a titan named Prometheus was sided with the gods of Olympus during the Titan War and he lives with the gods as a servant, and he gets punished for bringing fire to mankind; whereas “Johnny Appleseed” by Adrien Stoutenburg is about a man named John Chapman and he plants apple seeds everywhere and he gives seeds away to people without any payment, but both selections share the theme of someone giving things away.

The similarities in the selections are very subtle, soft or delicate, but they exist. The main similarity is that in both selections, a man is giving something away without being paid; In “The
