The danger of watching walter mitty before you actually read the short story is that the short story is only related to the movie by the characters names and the fact that the main character daydreams. The main difference between the two stories is that the plotline of the the short story takes place over one, normal, day in presumably winter, as mitty has to take chains off of his cars wheels, while the movie takes place over many days and includes Mitty going to iceland, greenland, and afghanistan, not to mention that he skateboards for fifteen kilometers to get to the photographer. Another difference between the short story and the movie would be the characters. The movie gets rid of the wife and replaces her with a divorced single mother,
