In both, The Crucible and Year and Wonders, human behavior is vital in dealing with crisis as it shapes how well characters cope and deal with these hardships. Elinor Momellion and Elisabeth Proctor both instill a trait in which they are selfless and giving. Elizabeth responds to the crisis of the witch trials in the crucible with a calm and understanding attitude. She behaved in a very mature way considering her position in the crisis. Elisabeth also remains calm while being sought after by Abigail stating ‘I am sure she does- and thinks to kill me, then take my place” Elinor Mompellion responds to the plague with action and support for her husband in the towns time of need, giving whatever when she was needed in efforts against the plague.
