The girls show their theatrical side many times throughout The Crucible but the time that it really showed itself was when they were acting like they were being afflicted by Mary Warren. This came after Mary exposed the girls of faking the afflictions and lying about the accused witches being witches. It started when they looked at the ceiling of the court and Abigail said “Why-? Why do you come yellow bird?” (Miller 114). The girls then go on to blame Mary Warren of casting out this yellow bird figure to inflict fear into them. This goes to show that the girls are just being overly dramatic in front of the judge to gain his trust and make him feel bad for them. The girls also prove to be the ones to blame when they falsely accuse people without evidence to back it up. The girls did just that when they started to accuse innocent people of being witches. The girls randomly started to blurt stuff out like “I saw Goody Hawkins with the devil” or “I saw Goody Sibber with the devil” (Miller 48). The girls are picking and choosing random people in the town of being witches all because they did not want to confess that they were dancing in the
