Odessa was treated nicely when it came to Miriam Thompson and Mary Catherine. In the beginning of the movie Miriam Thompson was a bit racist towards Odessa but she then started noticing that the african americans were in need of help. Miriam never saw them as a threat because she grew up with them ever since she was a child. Further into the movie Miriam started noticing that the african americans were being treated wrong so she decided to join them in the boycott and give them rides to work. The only problem was that she knew that her husband wouldn’t approve of it but she went for it anyways because she cared for Odessa and the other people that were being treated

These ideals enveloped the South in a veil of shadows, creating a regime of injustice and juxtaposition between southern society and those opposing their beliefs.. Among the shadows however, were citizens that acted as light in the dark but eventually burned out because of their inability to focus their ideals onto others. This wayward light was no more prevalent than in Atticus Finch, Harper Lee’s protagonist in the novel To Kill a Mockingbird. Taking place in Maycomb, Alabama, the story followed Atticus Finch and his efforts to defend an innocent black man accused of rape while providing…

In Maria W. Stewart's lecture in Boston in 1832, she conveys her position on the injustices of slavery and the cruelty that slaves experiences through the use of diction, figurative language, and her own personal experience. Altogether, these create a sense of injustice and desparity for the cause of the African Americans and their freedoms and aspirations to be something more than just servile labor. Diction is a major influence in this lecture. With a variety of words, such as "chains", "ragged", "drudgery and toil", "exhausted", "death", and "cruel", Stewart appeals to the feelings of people in an attempt to make them understand the hardships and extreme injustice that encompass the life of a slave. To continue, there is also another set…

The novel To Kill a Mockingbird takes place in the town of Maycomb, Alabama during the 1930s. The novel has to take place here because in the more northern parts of North America the racial beliefs of people were different, the laws had changed, and the neighbourhood, along with the people in it, would be completely different. The place and time are important because if it was anywhere else, or during any other time period, the novel would change drastically. “Maycomb was an old town, but it was a tired old town when I first knew it. ”(Harper Lee…

For the Birds is the story of, a bird that is different to the rest of the birds, an outsider. The creators also made the big bird seem very harmless and ignorant with the use of unbothered expressions and smiley attitude.…
