The Brooklyn Bridge is known to be one of history's grandest engineering feats and also one of the most popular bridges in New York City. Here in the text, “A Bridge for New York” by Patricia Mayberry, and “The Celebration” by The New York Tribune. Both of these texts talk about the Brooklyn Bridge, although two of the texts are different from each other, and provide different information about the Brooklyn Bridge. The first reason why the two texts are both different from each other, and provide different information about the Brooklyn Bridge is because the text, “A Bridge for New York” talks about the history of the Brooklyn Bridge, how it first started, and the importance of the bridge to New York. The last reason why the two texts are both different from each other, and provide different information about the Brooklyn Bridge is because the text A Bridge for New York includes information about the importance of the bridge. In the text, the author states, “The official opening of the bridge May 24, 1833, was a day for crowds, newspaper reporters, and government officials. The East River and New York Harbor were crowded with boats.” This shows how the people valued and showed respect towards the bridge because so many people were willing to show up. The author also mentioned in the text, “Flags flew on the rooftops of buildings and the masts of ships. Soldiers marched in formation and officials made speeches.” This also shows the importance and the appreciation people had shown towards the Brooklyn Bridge because of how the soldiers had marched. Although everything that has been stated in this text is not similar to the text “The Celebration”.The text Celebration does include important events, but most of them are cultural events or just speeches of the future.
