Gatsby The Good Ol’ Sport
In this essay, I will be comparing the novel and the 2013 motion picture, The Great Gatsby. Throughout the book and the movie, there are multiple differences, some of which are minuscule but others are highly noticeable. The Great Gatsby is a story about a man by the name of Nick Carraway and how his view on life was changed by a man claiming the name of Jay Gatsby.
The book The Great Gatsby was written by author F. Scott Fitzgerald in 1925. This book, although very similar to the movie, has some minor details that were left out of the movie franchise and vice versa.
One of the similarities between the novel and the movie was that they both were consistent

The scene of the party in the movie shows Nick in a drunken state and unable to control what he was doing. The book, however, doesn’t take the party to that extremity. The second difference that I would like to point out is the relationship between Nick and Jordan. The movie failed to show the romantic relationship that the two had together while the book seemed to display a much more rather intimate relationship. And the final difference I would like to call to attention is the death of Gatsby. In the movie he died hopeful, thinking he got the girl but in the book he dies unsure and frightened that he would never have daisy. The idea that he is frightened is supported by this quote, “He must have looked up at an unfamiliar sky through frightening leaves and shivered as he found what a grotesque thing a rose is and how raw sunlight was upon the scarcely cut grass.”. In the movie, Gatsby is shot as his butler answers a phone call he has been waiting for. Just before he is shot the butler says “I know Mr. Gatsby will be very happy that you’ve called.” and Gatsby assumes it’s daisy because before he dies he manages to whisper “Daisy” one last

The novel is dense and rich with interesting details that the reader uncovers over the course of the plot. The movie, on the other hand, is action-packed and dramatized to give the viewer a more captivating experience. Some of the most notable differences are; character development, scenes and dialog, and how the end has been changed to make the movie more engaging. The movie is very different from the book because sometimes in the book they include more details than in the movie. In the movies they spend a lot of time filming everything and sometimes one scene takes all day to film. In the book is something similar but not too much because in the book they take time to write everything and then to convert it into a book but what do you think. Something that they have in common is that they are written by the same author and it take place in the same year, but this is not always because sometimes they film the movie years after the book.…

The book and movie, are both fairly similar, and even though many of the differences were minute, it was not a drastic change converting the book to the movie. One simple reason is because whole lines of text was taken straight from the book. Here are a few other comparisons between the two. For example, the climax in The Great Gatsby is where Tom and Gatsby are arguing, and Gatsby tries to get Daisy to leave.…

In the book, Daisy moved on after Gatsby’s death and thought nothing of it, while in the movie, Daisy wanted to call Gatsby. This is an important difference because it showed Daisy still cared for Gatsby. Gatsby’s goal was to reconnect with Daisy and relive the past, just the way it was before. Gatsby wanted his phone available on the off chance that Daisy would call and want him back, so the phone ringing is symbolic for Jay Gatsby. Even though it was Nick who decided to call Gatsby, he dies thinking that Daisy finally wanted to be with him in the end.…

Like many other movies derived from books, there are numerous differences. The book has many people who aren't named in the movie, and the movie shows scenes that the book does not. The book described the Abramowiczs as a fairly poor family in a small shtetl, but in the movie it shows a wealthy family in a big village. There are also many similarities between the book and the movie. Both the book and movie contain the same main ideas in the plot, and have more or less the same storyline.…

There's way more differences than similarities trust me. One of the major change is between the novel and the film is, the book moves at a slower pace than the movie. The movie moves at such a fast pace that by the time any characters die you don’t feel much for them. The book has more character development than the movie,it make feel more for the characters in the book, but the movie does not make you feel for the characters. In the movie the acting feel fake and rushed, the book feels real and more well thought out.…

The Greater Great Gatsby The book the Great Gatsby has been depicted by lots of films, but the two that stand out the most are the 1974 and the 2013 versions. The1974 movie has strengths and weaknesses when comparing it to the book as does the 2013 version. Analyzing each movie and closely examining its connection to the book took some time. Finally the 1974 movie is a more noteworthy adaptation of the book then the 2013, in that this version was better at keeping the essence of the characters and conveying F. Scott Fitzgerald 's purpose in the writing the novel.…

Lastly, one of the major differences is the ending of both book and movie, in the end of the 1974 movie the people hopped off a boat onto an island and danced the night away with music playing in the background as the credits begin to fall. It has nothing to do with the real ending of the book, which says, “So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.” I think this part refers back to Gatsby’s comment (chapter 6) about the past repeating itself. Which brings to mind, did Nick change his mind?…
