While watching this film, my feelings about the death penalty changed. I used to agree with the death penalty, but I do not agree with it now because I do not think anyone deserves to die, I feel like it is hypocritical, it has a terrible impact on the family and friends of the person receiving the death penalty, and I believe it is unfair to some people. In the following paragraphs, I will explain why I do not agree with the death penalty. The first reason I do not agree with the death penalty is that I do not think anyone deserves to die. Why would a person kill someone because they kill someone else? That is a hypocritical punishment. It's like if someone shot someone in the arm. They are not punished by getting shot back. I think it is hypocritical and people tend to argue that it is well deserved, but like I said before, no one deserves to die. The third reason I do not agree with the death penalty is that the impact it has on other people is devastating. Imagine the person's family,or friends. The only people that get little satisfaction from the person's death is the family of the already deceased. In the movie, Capote,Truman Capote said, "It was a terrible experience and I will never get over it". Imagine one of your friends or family members up for the death penalty. Would you look past what they did and try your hardest to get them out of it? Would you forgive them? I would. The final reason I do not agree with the death penalty is that I believe it is unfair to some people. In the movie, Capote, Perry killed every single one of the people that were murdered, but Dick still received the death penalty. To be sentenced to death, you have to commit excessive first-degree murder. Dick was only an accomplice to the murders. It was unfair for Dick to die,
