Comparing The American Dream In Hansberry's A Raisin In The Sun

The American dream, a big family, a big house with a white pickett fence. A dream may not necessarily be just a dream, in Raisin in the Sun, a family goes through ups and down trying to get the American Dream. With ambition and determination, nothing can stop them right. In A Raisin in the sun, Lorriane Hansberry shows different aspects of human nature, how having Faith and Hope you can survive any situations especially in the family. Every Family expresses and shows love in many different ways. While mama’s dream was to buy a house, Beneatha’s dream is different entirely. Her desires is to become a doctor. Beneatha has feminist qualities, because her dream is to be carreer and not family-oriented.

Ruth is very happy she doesn’t have to live in that ragedy appartment anymore, on the other hand Walter feels angry because he wants to pursure the liquor store venue with the insurance money. He thinks all his problems will be solved and he will no longer be a common slave to the working man. He wants to b able to send his son to a nice school one day. But the family becomes uneasy as mama says the house is in Clybourne Park, an entirely white neighborhood, it was the only house they could afford. The cuurent neighborhood is filled with middle class white people, the family is uneasy because another black family just got bombed out of an all white neighborhood. Mr. Lindner family that the housing association will offer them more money in exchange for not moving to Clybourne Park. Ruth, Walter and Beneatha, get very angry and offended, but they manage to control themselves. Walter tells Mr. Lindner that they will still be moving to Clyde Park as planned and tell Mr. Linder he needs to leave
