Comparing Steinbeck's Of Mice And Men

Of Mice and Men is a story about two friends. One of the friends is Lennie that has a mental disability, and the other friend, George that takes care after Lennie. In the movie version of ,Of Mice and Men there are differences as comparing to the book version. Even though it has many differences it is still giving the same objective that the book was depicted to have. The first difference between the movie and the book was at the beginning point when the movie started in a different timespan. In the movie George was traveling on a train in a flashback whereas in the book they started off with George and Lennie walking with each other on a sandy road near a swamp. Another dominant difference was the point in the end where George didn't hesitated a little to shoot Lennie in the head whereas in the book he had a difficult time to kill his own friend with his own hands. After George shot Lennie in the head Slim came to George to solace and support him. He also took him with him to get him a drink.

The characters as described in the book are different as described in the

movie. The movie had a couple of disparities. One of them is the relationship between

George and Curley. In the book George was laid out to hate Curley with a passion. In

the movie George didn’t really seem to care about Curley that much or like Curley too

much but he also didn’t hate him that much as laid out in the book. Another

relationship is the one between Curley's wife and Lennie. In the book Curleys wife

would only talk to Lennie to get amused and entertained by his actions and stupidity caused by his mental disabilities. In the movie she enjoyed talking to Lennie because
