Comparing Society's 'Dealing With Morrie'

Decent Essays
Morrie wants to be cremated instead of being buried. He compares himself and other humans to plants but includes that we are only different because we have emotions. Morrie’s legacy will be remembered as a man who had strong beliefs about life. He will be remembered for his kindness and faith in living while dying. The most important part of Morrie that will live on is his need to always want to talk to people and make them happy. After someone I know dies I always think about how much more peaceful they are in heaven rather than how much pain they felt while dying. Society deals with death in many ways some are scared and some cant wait to die. I don’t think anybody ever understands death until they die. A couple life lessons I can take away from this novel are being able to be self confident and humble towards others. I would recommend this book to others to help others notice how great their lives are. This book helped me realize that people are going through worse things than me and I shouldn’t sit in my own self-pity. Society would see this book as a push forward into their lives simply because of the story being shared about another person’s life while they’re dying. Morrie would have loved to read this book because it shows the love and appreciation Mitch has for him. He would know for sure that someone cared for him. My favorite chapter was The Eighth Tuesday We Talk About Money. This was my favorite chapter because it proved that materialistic items aren’t the only things that can make people happy. Money doesn’t grow on trees and neither do humans because we have feelings. The true thing that can make a person happy is love. It doesn’t matter what kind of love it is, as long as you’re getting the right amount of it is what makes people

This term I started out with what I thought was a pretty easy reading goal. My goal was to read at least two hours every week, not counting the time we read at the beginning of English. I read many articles, mostly things from Buzzfeed, and The Onion. I also started rereading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets when I was in school, outside of school I just finished reading A Separate Peace by John Knowles. Overall I don’t think I met my goal, because some weeks I wouldn’t read at all and other weeks I had read for probably fifteen hours or more, and I never had a very consistent reading schedule.…

I think this because of the fact that it was implied that Josh and him were very good friends also he died right in front of josh. Imagine your best friend dying right in front of you and how horrific that would be for you.…
