Siddhartha had an enduring and difficult journey of trying to accepting himself. In the beginning of story Siddhartha didn't enjoy himself at home so he begins a journey to find himself. “ Now it is beginning, now Siddhartha is following his path, now his destiny is starting to sprout..”(8) This shows Siddhartha starting point of his adventure. His decision displays his confidence in not being afraid of expressing himself. At the end of the novel Siddhartha finally becomes satisfied and accepts himself when he is at the river with Vasudeva. In Song of Myself, the author expresses himself of not being afraid of what others think of him and his beliefs. Stanza 1 states “ I harbor for good or bad, I permit to speak at every hazard” He declares that he is outspoken in his words and is not scared of the dangers that his words may cause. Since the author states he is outspoken him accepting himself and not being afraid to express himself is easily accomplished. Another instance in Siddhartha represents the theme.
