Story line – This is a love story about Romeo Montague + Juliet Capulet. Little do they know there love is forbidden the reason being that they are both members of each other’s feuding families, regardless of their differences they continue with their love and see each other behind closed doors and get married. When Tybalt (Juliet’s cousin) kills Mercutio (Romeos best friend) Romeo seeks revenge and guns down Tybalt, Romeo is then banished from Verona. Juliet’s father has arranged for her to marry the governor’s son Dave Paris. Filled with remorse Juliet comes up with a plan with the help of the priest to fake her death and flee the city with her precious Romeo. The priest has sent a message on to Romeo to inform him on the plan. Unfortunately Romeos cousin Balthasar tells Romeo the news about Juliet’s death before he receives the message from the priest. Due to the heartbreaking news Romeo returns to Verona where he purchases poison. He then arrives at the church and lies next to Juliet and drinks the poison. Suddenly Juliet awakens, astonished by Romeos death she attempts to kiss Romeo to retrieve poison so she can …show more content…
From beginning to end in the movie they speak exactly like the original play. It begins with a TV anchor reporting on the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. There is a montage pinpointing the leading characters, also showing the city of Verona influenced by 2 towers. Romeo and Juliet approached each other through an aquarium. Verona is portrayed as a modern-day city, with high-rise buildings, gas stations and hot dogs stands, none of which were even available during the time that the play was written. The costumes are also much modernized. A particular scene in the beginning shows the Montague boys driving around in Hawaiian shirts and strange colored hair; however the Capulet boys dressed in leather and metal-heeled
