Aaron Miller history 9-26-15 Mr.Brokaw Servitude to slavery How are servitude and slavery different?Let's dig in for the differce between servitude and slavery.The latin word for slave is servi.The root word for servitude is servant, that means to work for them and should not except pay or they don't have ownership over the servant.That what servitude and slavery means and let's see what's different. Slavery means to work for someone that bought you or you were born into slavery.If you did something bad they would wip you with anything that was near them.Most of the slaves were Negroe's,Mulattoes,Mustizoes,and/or Indians.Some whites could be slaves if they married a slave they were turned into a slave sometimes.While slaves have to work in the heat and servants don't.Slaves were fed badly and paid poorly by the owner.Even thought the slave could buy him/herself it would take years for them to buy themselves. Even though servitude and slavery means almost the same it's not.One means to be born or bought which is slavery andservitude means you have to work for them for 7 years or sometimes depends on the owner that you have. Slaves and servants were both sent to the new world to work on houses and store and much more. So slaves and servants both saw the new world at the same time and they both had to do the samething in wars be shields or clean the stable and plant seeds.servants and slavery mean the same. How are servitude and slaves different?They aren't different it's the samething.
