Comparing Saki's The Interlopers And The Story Of An Hour

“The Interlopers” by Saki and “The story of an Hour” by Kate Chopin are both short stories with some similarities and differences. Aside from the many differences within two stories, there are also similarities in characters, settings, and the endings.
The Story of an Hour, depicts the story of the woman. Mrs. Mallard, who finds out about her husband death. She starts to feel herself free. Later, she finds out that her husband is back that causes her to have a heart attack, after which Mrs. Mallard dies. While, “The Interlopers” is a story about Ulrich van Gratwitz, who is looking for his neighbor, George Znaeym, to kill him. The characters meet under the beech tree, which then falls on them, which pins them to the ground. After a while, Ulrich suggest George to forget all the past and became friends. In both stories characters end up doing opposite of what they done before, Ulrich and George families were fighting fro years, but they decided to became friends whereas Mrs. Mallard realized that she wants to be free, after her husband death.

In The Story of an Hour the setting is bright and kind of cheerful even though Mrs. Mallard husband died. In addition, the setting of the story could describe Mrs. Mallard feelings fo being free.While, “The Interlopers” settings, is mostly dark, gloomy and freezing.
