Romeo and Juliet both loved each other a lot. Between Romeo and Juliet, I believe Juliet loved Romeo more. In act 1 Romeo was madly in love with another girl, Rosaline. But as soon as he saw Juliet he forgot about Rosaline. At the beginning of the story, Romeo was lovesick, but he knew he could not win Rosaline over. According to the play "Well, in that hit you miss. She'll not be hit. With Cupid's arrow She hath Dian's wit. And, in strong proof of chastity well-armed from love's weak childish bow, she lives uncharmed…" (1.1.199-203.) In other words, Romeo was truly in love with Rosaline, but he knew he can never win her over, since she had vowed to stay single.
