Revenge, how does it just effect or does it control? Two sources of revenge are the stories “Hop and Frog” and Once Upon A Time. “Hop Frog” is a old short story that was written by Edgar Allen Poe that is about a jester for a demanding king. Once Upon A Time is a modern TV show directed by Adam Horowtiz and Edward Kitsis, that is about story book characters coming to live in a modern society. The story “Hop Frog” by Edgar Allen Poe and Once Upon A Time by Adam Horowtiz and Edward Kitsis both illustrate that the yearning for revenge can bring out the worst in everyone through the use of characters priorities, the people taking revenge, and even the people that caused the revenge. Many might think that the people behind revenge like this are pure evil, but before making judgments one must see the figure as a whole. In Hop Frog, while planning the party he secretly is making the ball room the best place for him to take revenge. One of the best clues says, “At his suggestion it was that, on this occasion, the chandelier was removed” (Poe 4). Hop Frog told the king that the chandelier was removed because he didn’t want the wax to drip on all the exquisite gowns. In reality, however, it was so that Hop frog could hoist the ourang-outangs up from it. Regina Spent years searching for Snow to make her pay. At some points she even puts the entire kingdom on hold as she went on searching. It got so barbarous, “One day she went to a small village where she had heard that Snow was hiding. She asked everyone there if they had seen her; and when they didn’t reply, she had her servants kill them all.” (Once Upon A Time). This shows that Regina would kill an entire kingdom, create fear, and destroy others property; just to capture and revenge Snow
