Although they appear to be similar research and evidence based nursing are actually two different areas. Below we will discuss the two areas and view the differences in questions. Research involves systematic and rigorous use of the scientific method that utilizes investigation, exploration and discovery to answer a specific question or test a hypotheses (Conner, 2014). An example of a research nursing question may be: What activities increase chronic pain? In evidence based nursing is collection, evaluation, and integration of valid research evidence (LoBiondo-Wood & Haber, 2014).
