Comparing Relationships In William Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet

Romeo is more dedicated to his love interest than he is to honor; he fell in love with the daughter of his family’s enemy, he continued to pursue the relationship after he knew her origins, and ultimately he killed himself because of his love for Juliet. When Romeo crashed the Capulet’s ball, he met their daughter Juliet, and he fell in love with her. Since Romeo fell in love with Juliet in the same night he was ‘devoted’ to Rosaline, he proved to be a player and dishonorable. Later Romeo learned who Juliet’s family was yet he still pursued her. Trying to have a relationship with the daughter of his family’s enemy could only be seen as dishonorable in the eyes of Romeo’s own family. In time because Romeo believed Juliet was dead, he killed

Noah, who was her first love, and was the one that her family didn’t approve of because they felt that he was “trash” and not “suitable” for her. Lon, who is her current love and fiancé, and happens to be very wealthy and the type of man that her family finds suitable for her. Allie is in love with both men but doesn’t know what she is going to do or how she will pick between the man with the social status that she knows her family approves of and wants for her or picking the man that her family has already decided wasn’t good enough for her.…

Romeo and Juliet Essay by Skylar Spencer Couples today compared to couples in Romeo and Juliet’s time period were very different. Dating has definitely changed over time. In Romeo and Juliet, there were many factors that played a similar role as in the love stories today. I think age does play a role in decision-making, just like in the story. Back then, in Romeo and Juliet’s time, girls got married at a really young age.…

Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare began and ended with death, but the story continues to live on. Romeo and Juliet was written in 1500’s and showed how relationships worked back then and how Shakespeare saw relationships. It is important to use lenses because, “The different lenses also allow critics to focus on particular aspects of a work they consider important.” (McGinn research, via Tyson, Richart). The relationship lense is looking at the different types of relationships and see how they affect the story or the characters.…

Interpersonal Relationships: The Power of Love As teens become older, the relationships they have with people become more valuable. In William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare showcases the message that the type of relationship someone has with another person is beneficial to the things they need. Through the use of personification of emotions and metaphors of despair, Shakespeare conveys the message that the relationship between Romeo and Friar Lawrence helped Romeo solidify a love he wants to solidify. Personification is used greatly to show that Romeo and Friar Lawrence’s relationship is helpful. Romeo has a forbidden love that he wants to share with the Friar.…

Romeo is a Montague, rival to the Capulet family. This is terrible because he involves himself with Juliet, who is a Capulet, and they end up getting married. I decided to pick this character to analyze because he was the most interesting to and is a main character from my perspective. Solely, he is not like me at all and is very hard to identify because he has a totally different mind set. In addition, dating him is out of the picture because he is not my type, but on the other hand, his personality and heart are good in the way that he cares for who he dates.…

In Conclusion, I think that Romeo is a young, inexperienced and impatient but loyal and brave boy. I think that his naivety plays a huge rule in this because love was taken as an extravagant feeling to have when it was not truly happy as the lovers can experience heartbreak and many other obstacles. It seems as if Romeo only more cautious and deliberate, his devastating ending could have been prevented (even though we have not finished the book yet). Amongst friends especially Mercutio, Romeo shows signs of his social and quick witted persona, even with his fond of verbal jousting that is mainly about sex. Lastly, Romeo is like every other male in the world who only unveils their true self to the people who they trust or who understand them.…

Romeo and Juliet rush to get married after their first meeting. For example, when Romeo and Juliet are meeting in the orchard, Juliet says, “Three words, dear Romeo, and good night indeed./If that thy bent of love be honorable,/ Thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow,/By one that I’ll procure to come to thee,/Where and what time thou wilt perform the rite;/And all my fortunes at thy foot I’ll lay/And follow thee my lord throughout the world”(2.2.142-148). Although Romeo and Juliet just met earlier that night, Juliet is already proposing and confessing her love to him. This is unexpected, considering their time span of knowing each other. Shakespeare uses this to amplify the audiences emotions of love and warmth towards the characters.…

According to what I have said, it becomes clear that Romeo and Juliet's way of love is totally different from their parent's way of love; each party has his own rule of love and his specific own way to express such love. Obviously, Shakespeare draws this comparison between parental love and romantic love to show the audience that although love is seen as a natural, desirable, and beautiful feeling, one may express it in a way that could result in violence, and destructive acts, and anger is one of such destructive acts " If romantic relationships were a coin, affection and love would be one side; anger and conflict would be the other" (Lynch 140). What Lynch wants to say is that Love is really a noble feeling but at the same…
