Comparing Rapunzel With The Movie Adaptation Tangled

This essay is about comparing the fairy tale of "Rapunzel" with the movie adaptation Tangled. The different clothing, the characters and the different settings are going to be compared. "Rapunzel" is a fairy tale from the XVII century, about a girl who has spent her entire life trapped in a tower since she was kidnapped by an old lady witch. Rapunzel is very famous for having her long blonde hair, and because she "let down her hair" to the prince to scape her tower. In the movie there were many elements changed from the fairy tale. One of the biggest changes where regarding the characters, for example the modification between the Prince and Flynn. In the fairy tale the Prince is from a royal family and he is a very fancy gentleman. But in the movie the character that takes the role of the Prince is called Flynn. Flynn is the opposite of the Prince, he is a criminal running away. …show more content…
The tower is an isolated one, that only has one way in in both the original story and the cinematic adaptation. The biggest difference setting-wise could be the role that the forest takes in the film, where Rapunzel, Flynn and the horse spend way more time than in the story. The forest is barely mentioned in the fairy tale, but it takes a larger role in the big screen. Based on what I've researched, I was able to find many differences between the original fairy tale of "Rapunzel" and the movie adaptation Tangled. Comparing the different clothing, the characters, and the setting I concluded that the film is pretty accurate compared to the original story, but it has some different elements that in my opinion make the story more fun. The movie adaptation was a big hit that, when released was very popular, that has a good rating, and that represents the story very well. Also it's shows how different are famous fairy tales from two hundred years ago than from

I know it sound juvenile, but if I could be one character from a movie it would be Rapunzel from Disney’s Tangled. At the end of the animated movie, Rapunzel is reunited with her parents the King and Queen of Corona and the audience sees the whole family dancing in the middle of the square with all of the citizens. I know it is every little girl’s dream, but I have always wanted to be a Princess. When you are a princess, you get to live happily ever after with a wonderful prince and you never have to worry about taxes, college, or getting a job. Princesses are also listened to; they have the power to really change what they think is unjust in the world.…

For many years Disney has given the world timeless fairytale classics that children look up to and love, what Disney hasn’t told the world is where the fairytales originated from. Disney’s fairytale “Tangled” originated from Charollette Rose de la Force’s classic tale “Persinette, The Maiden in the Tower” written in 1698 and carried on by the Grims Brothers in 1820 and then on to Disney in 2010. Most fairytales are supposed to have a happy ending however not every fairytale Disney recreated is has happy and cheery as they make it out to be. The moral of Disney’s “Tangled is nothing can stop a person’s destiny. The moral of “Persinette” by Force is the same as Disney’s moral nothing can stop a person’s destiny.…

Into the Woods is basically the stories of Rapunzel, Cinderella, Jack & The Beans Stalk combined, the production of Into the Woods tells a quirky story of a journey into the trees, where hopefully they will all be back before dark. it was an incredible play even though there were things in the play that were not in the movie like Rapunzel getting her eyes gouged out. It was an emotional play for me and I did not cry when Simba was standing over Mufasa's body after Uncle Scar threw him down the cliff. The Actors made very good eye contact with the audience…

Similarities In all three stories the gifts that are bestowed upon the princess are all desirable character traits for a woman> they are all things men would desire in woman > both the original and most famous versions are written by men, so these traits could be what men would desire in their perfect girl during that time. A similarity of all three is that as soon as the prince and princess look into each other’s eyes they fall instantly in love, this enforces the theme of especially the most popular and movie version that true love has utter faith and never questions itself. Differences In the original, ironically, the prince does not infact wake up the princess but is rather beside her when she wakes up> whereas in the Grimm and Disney version the prince is the one to save her.…

In the original brothers grimm version of rapunzel i talked of the irony in rapunzel's name because she was named after the herb rampion her father traded her for. The dramatization and exaggeration of the piece stuck out to me in the majority of the prince's actions and rapunzel's beginning. The fact rapunzel had blonde hair and was extremely naive seemed to correlate in my mind and the length difference between the original brothers grimm and tangled was very significant. It seemed to correlate with her helplessness based off the fact rapunzel in tangled used her hair to get out on her own but the original rapunzel was trapped by it. The one thing the brothers grimm version did right with in regards to stereotypes was the fact there wasn’t…

Maleficent is a 2014 American adventure fantasy film directed by Robert Stromberg from a screenplay by Linda Woolverton and starring Angelina Jolie, Sharlto Copley, Elle Fanning, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple, and Lesley Manville. Loosely based on Charles Perrault's original fairy tale and inspired by Walt Disney's 1959 animated film, Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent portrays the story from the perspective of the eponymous antagonist, depicting her conflicted relationship with the princess and king of a corrupt kingdom. Sleeping beauty is a story showing a more sympathetic, nuanced version of the iconic fairy tale. On the other hand, Maleficent which is adapted from Sleeping Beauty story claims to be a deeper look at the story behind Disney's.
