Comparing Ralph And Jack In William Golding's Lord Of The Flies

Some think that the leadership differences between Ralph and Jack is about the same, but differs in many different ways. They are two very different characters in one single story and that contradiction between them makes the story that much better as it goes on. The difference between these two characters are that they both want different things. Ralph to me is the most responsible in this story because it shows that he has common sense and all he wants is to build a shelter for them to survive. He is also in charge of the little ones and that is one difficult job to tackle because the little ones attention span is not very big and he has to control them. All the little ones want to do is to run and play on this mysterious island they are on. Ralph so far seems like the better leader in this story, but is he? Then there is Jack he is the man that is a leader, but more of a violent leader. All he cares about when they get there is hunting to get food for them to survive. In fact, one of the chapters starts out with jack hunting in the forest like an animal. Some people say a leader is someone who takes charge and has a lot of opinions. Others say that a leader is someone who is a motivator and can help people get places they never thought they could go. Then also a leader should have some sense of discipline if someone does something that hurts the group. There is the problem all of these leadership qualities are split between both Jack and Ralph. If all of these qualities were in one character they would make the best leader by far. So then who is the greatest leader in Lord of the Flies, and who should take charge and help everyone to survive on this
