Life isn't meant to be easy, it is meant to be lived. Sometimes good and other times rough. But with every up and down, you learn lessons that make you stronger. Chris Gardner from the film ‘The Pursuit Of Happiness’ directed by Mucciano and, Billy Blunkett from ‘The Simple Gift’ written by Herrick, they both deal with similar struggles and up’s and down’s. But the both characters become stronger with the pain, which they both face in their life. Chris and Billy both face homelessness yet they overcome this on their road to finding happiness.
Chris is plagued by many life obstacles that lead to hardship between the family relationships. Chris loses everything that a man needs to make him happy; he loses his wife, his house and doesn't have money. Despite all the hardship Chris goes through, he still pursuits his happiness by having a stock broker intern ship for six months with no pay and sells a few of his bone density scanners to make money. Materialism was a one of the things that Chris had but, billy didn't. Chris wanted a luxurious life with car, money, house and wanted to be treated like a VIP. Where, billy wanted things in a simple way; he didn't want a life with luxury he wanted a life with love and calmness. For example: Billy buys a ring for catlin with his first ever pay. He didn't want to use the money on him. Chris at once said in the film that “man, i have two question for you. What do you do and how do you do it?” when seeing a Ferrari.
