The author uses text structure to support the main idea in the essay by comparing pupils to a sausage casing. They also say the teachers are supposed to stuff education and knowledge into the sausage casing (our minds.)
The author also talks about eliciting knowledge by quoting from literature and other people. They quoted William Ernest Hocking, he was talking about how it is more important to see what we are made of, and what is inside of us.
