'Animal farm' and 'Macbeth' are respective stories that actively convey the rise and fall of the theme; power. Both text revolve around a central protagonist that has the ambition to strive for power and status. Both power hungry and tyrannically leaders display similar qualities when striving for the top of the hierarchy, resulting in callous violence and distress to others along the way. The idea of 'Macbeth' written by William Shakespeare seems timeless as the play was a generous tribute to the current reigning monarch; King James I. The synopsis of the play parallels the reign King James I ancestors in Scotland. Whereas 'Animal Farm', by George Orwell, was written as a dystopian fable which has a political allegory paralleling with the actions in Soviet communism- 1945. Napoleon, the oppressor leader dictates the other animals under the revolution of "Animalism," the reign of equality amongst animals and disbelief against humans. Both protagonist exploits the use of power which brings about the underlining morals in both texts.
Both writers, Orwell and Shakespeare, foreshadows the protagonist potential power in the beginning of both text.
