In the poem “Road Not Taken” and “Choices” the narrator's presented their ideas on choices. What it means to them and how they approach it. In the poem “Road Not Taken” I believe the narrator sends the message of, having caution when making an important choices, or a choices nonetheless, because regret may follow with them. This is shown and made clear of when he states, “Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted I would ever come back.” (stanza 3, line 4-5) The narrator seems to realize that after you make a choice, other choices appears, and you may never return to the first important choice. Later he shows another important detail, “I shall be telling this with a sigh.” (stanza 4 ,line 1) He stated that he is aware that later in

In “The Road Not Taken” the speaker (Frost) describes both roads, he states “long I stood… And looked down one as far as I could… To where it bent in the undergrowth” (Frost, 137). This excerpt can be seen as the roads being a metaphor for the future. When the speaker examines both roads but cannot see beyond the undergrowth, this demonstrates the poet’s interpretation that no one knows what the future holds. As the audience reads further the speaker states “Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way” (Frost, 137).…

The Road Not Taken talks about the decisions people have to make throughout their life’s inner journey and where these decisions will lead them. As written in Stanza Two “Then took the other, as just as fair, and having perhaps the better claim”, Robert Frost is expressing that these options we have in life and the decisions we make are not easy to do and at times it may be stressful and confusing but to continue on with our life’s inner journey we must make a decision. Although at the time we may have chosen the wrong pathway or road but we should always be optimistic as the future holds great experiences and surprises for us. We can see this concept through Julie in the novel “Cosi”, she experienced rough patches throughout her life which put her away in a mental illness hospital but through time and hard work she managed to fix her life and get herself back on track for the rest of her life’s inner…

Comparative Essay Following your path is a good thing but there are negatives and positives that go along with making your own decisions. In both “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost and “Experience” by Dorothy Livesay the poets use metaphor and point of view to communicate their difficult experiences when dealing with finding their way in life, however Frost and Livesay had two different experiences when dealing with finding their way in life, which is shown in their poems. Both poets used metaphor to express the way they felt and to show how it was when they left, and they used point of view to communicate and describe their experiences and feelings while trying to find their own way. And the difficult experiences that they faced.…

We alone are ultimately the one who has to live with the choices and decisions we make. We can have good intentions, however there is no light guiding us to the right decision. There is no sign on a door to mark the right choice. It is only once we have stepped through the door and it has closed that we can see the consequences of the decisions we have made. Stafford makes this very apparent in the speaker.…

I chose this poem because just by reading the title "The Road Not Taken" gave me a sense of knowing that this poem would be about someone who chose to go in a different direction rather than the other. Also reading the title made me wonder if the poem would be of someone who has regrets about not taking that road to see where it could have lead them to. In the first two stanza's of the poem Robert says "Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both. " By having read only the first two stanza's and the title of the poem tells me that this poem it is about making life decisions that are later on filled with regrets. I feel that I can relate somewhat to this poem right now at this time in my life because having to apply…

Many readers may believe the speaker of the poem travels a path that is far less traveled than the other. In truth, they are equally worn. Robert Frost writes, “the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black” (Frost). The speaker implies that in decades to come he may ironically be stretching the truth, telling his audience he took the more difficult path. He will be, “telling this with a sigh” (Frost) because in the back of his head he knows the truth that the paths were equally explored and he truly does not know which path had the “better…
