Comparing Pearl Hotrodders And Lullaby

All the choices you make in life affect your future. Other people might think that your future is affected by fate. But I argue that the human experience is governed by choice. I know this because I have read 3 pieces of text that prove it. The three pieces of text are The Pearl, Hotrodders, and Lullaby for 17. In the pearl Kino choose to keep the pearl and that's why his family was in danger. He could’ve chosen to just leave it there or not look for it at all. In Hotrodders they chose to play chicken and then they got killed. They could’ve prevented that by not playing at all or swerve. In the poem Lullaby for 17 her mom tried to teach her that men can be dangerous. She didn’t have to teach her but she chose too.

First off Kino choose to keep the pearl. I know this because in the text it said “Kino lifted the flesh and there it lay the great pearl.” This proves that Kino decided to keep the pearl. Others might say that he found it by fate and didn’t choose to find it. But if he didn’t search for it he wouldn’t of found it. …show more content…
According to the text “The only ones at last who had the nerve to meet head on.” This means that they decided to play chicken and none of them swerved so they went straight at each other and got killed because if they would’ve swerved they would’ve lived but they didn’t and they died. Others might say it's fate because they didn’t choose to die. But if they would’ve swerved they could’ve prevented it
