Comparing Paul's Philosophy And Religion

Man has a wisdom that leads him away from God in his revolution against God. Paul gives us insight into this in Romans 1:23-32. Man can persuade himself that his selfish way and his false religion are right, but this is not God’s way and it will lead to man’s own destruction. “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the ends thereof are the ways of death” (Proverbs 14:12). Human foolishness appears through efforts to stand alone without God, or against God. Man develops warped affections for his own desires and lowers God to his own level, which leads man into heathenism and idolatry (vs. 23). People refuse to worship God as the Creator and they demote God in their minds as their peer, equal to man. Man soon creates the gods he will accept and control, which is idolatry. …show more content…
As man begins to move away from God, God will allow man to destroy the relationship God offers. Pleasure and sensual desires provide the pathway to reward man instead of God. Pleasure becomes the motivating factor which controls the heart of man. Immoral practices grow because man wants this and God gives man over to his own desires.
People soon deny the truth of God and accept a lie of their own making. As people move away from God the punishment becomes self-fulfilling, man gets what he wants. God allows desires and pleasure to rule man. As God removes His hands for guidance, God gives man over to deeper sin, such as homosexuality, because they do not worship the Creator. Man tries to fill his empty hole in his life with more sinful acts which provide temporary pleasure until his passions burn out of

"Furthermore, these ideas have and will continue to taint the way in which people think as it is this pervasive thinking that dominates the West and the world today” (Martin, 2006). Therefore, it is evident that the changes that we have seen are only the beginning and these influences will only continue to propel further change. The idea that God is non-existent has become more common and the desire to remove God from every area in society is becoming more and more accepted. However, our God has given us free will and therefore, the choice is there to make.…

    1) This is from The Burning of My House by Anne Bradstreet, a piece of religious poetry written in plain-style and using inversions. In this poem, Bradstreet recollects her epxperience of only being able to watch as her house and everything inside burned down, and how she knows it happened for a reason. During the time of religious revival and Puritan faith takeover in New England, Anne Bradstreet wrote this religon/faith-based poem to inform other on the dangers of materialism as depicted by their faith, in an attempt to "save" her fellow Puritans from falling into the trap of worldly desire. Based off the belief that in relation to the people, God is all-powerful and is pulling all the strings of human life, Bradstreet speaks of how God burned down her house…

A few years after Christ, Paul was born to a family of Jews in the City of Tarsus. His parents were both of Jewish lineage, resulting in his practicing of Judaism in his adolescence. During his schooling, Gamaliel, a Pharisee in Jerusalem, was Paul’s teacher. Paul spent his childhood learning to convert all followers of other faiths to Judaism using any means necessary. The occasional quotes from Greek poets in Paul’s writings allude that Paul also learned Greek and other languages from Gamaliel.…

Throughout the history of Christianity, the use of birth control has been a very controversial subject. Pope Paul IV decided to appoint a special commission to reevaluate the prohibition on birth control the Catholic Church had for a very long time. When Pope Paul IV spoke in 1968, he did not say what people wanted to hear and what people expected. His views on birth control were very different from what was considered the status quo.…

There were several important themes in Paul’s Epistles the three that are significant to my church and/ or personal life is as follows justification, grace, and faith. Justification has taken many years to totally understand for my walk with Christ. It has been really hard to grasp onto the fact that I do not have to do everything myself. All I have to do is give everything to Jesus and he will be there to help me through whatever it is that I am facing. Last year my husband was in a life threatening work accident and would have lost his life if someone had not been there to put a tourniquet on his leg.…

Paul, a Diaspora Jew, and practicing Pharisee who was “blameless” (Philippians 3:6) and “advanced in Judaism” (Galatians 1: 13-14), spent most of his early life studying “at the feet of Gamaliel” (Acts 22:3). Moreover, Paul, formerly Saul, was feared because of his infamous actions against self-identified Christ followers, such as the stoning of Steven (Acts 9:56-60). Relentlessly, he worked towards destroying the early Christian church movement (Powell, 2009, p. 236). When Paul was on his way to Damascus, likely looking to expand his ruthless persecution against Christians (Powell, 2009, p. 238) and had his dramatic encounter with Jesus Christ, it seemingly changed the trajectory of his life.…

It becomes then a question of ethics versus morals, similar on the surface, but with serious consequences without an underlying belief. Yes, it’s hard to see those perfectly nice people in our world that have no use for God and know how it’s going to end. “Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised.…

In this passage Paul looks around and he cites the difficulties that exist in his time period. He looks around and he sees the existence of pain. He see the people suffering and all to often I think we forget how hard life really is today and even more so during the period that Paul walked the earth while the church was being shaped and formed. Just turn the TV on and you can hear issues of destruction, brutality and adversity. Which my brothers and sister is a constant reminder that we better continue to prepare ourselves for the inevitable demise and destruction of the world as we know it, because that is the only way the Kingdom can come unto earth (Matthew 6:10) in the way that it is currently in Heaven.…

Before embarking on a missionary journey to the Hellenized Jews in Syria and Celicia, Paul asked his companion and assistant, Timothy, the son of a Jewish-Christian mother and Greek father, to be circumcised (Acts 16). On a separate occasion, before visiting the church in Jerusalem, "not even Titus, who was with me, was compelled to be circumcised, even though he was a Greek" (Galatians 2: 3). Was Paul contradicting himself? Of course not! True to character, Paul had shrewdly put his first priority - spreading the Gospel message - into action.…
