Comparing Paul Joseph Watson And The Truth About Islamophobia

The wing beneath my wings: Paul Joseph Watson.

The person I look up to and admire the most is a man named Paul Joseph Watson, a reporter for the online news outlet called Infowars.com. There, Paul covers stories the media won't touch, reporting on culture, politics and conspiracies, which are often shoved to the side due to controversy, and pc culture. In a world where facts seem to get ignored, it's nice to see someone tell it like it is, in a way where there's no repercussions. He's never scared to report a story either, even when it results in death threats, and people screaming obscenities at him. Which, is the norm in his type of work. There's something I respect about a man who can have a clear argument with someone argues back

Unlike others he believes there is nothing wrong with it, because islam is not a race, it's an idea, and every idea is up for criticism. Speaking about Islam is no easy task though, and there's always major backlash. With videos such as, “Islam Is Not A Religion Of Peace,” and “ The Truth About Islamophobia” he covers it in depth the violence that is prevalent in Islam, while addressing on the fact that not all people who believe in Islam are violent but they do subscribe to a violent belfie system. With this subject, often depressing and disgusting news articles come out, and are pushed to the side due to political correctness. Now, you can't criticize this belief system without getting death threats and hated by people who support the religion, even if they are not part it themselves, but who will say the problems that the religion has caused? Who will say anything about the Muslim refugee crises? Who will support of the reformations that Islam desperately needs survive through the 21 century? Since its such a dangerous act to speak about this religion many shy away, but Paul never does. As Soon as there's been an attack in the name of Isis or in the name of Islam, he's there, with nothing but the truth, even if all the facts aren't on his side. In speaking about Islam, paul has written some truly disturbing articles and have made some sicking videos, one being called, “ The Rape Of Europe,” where he …show more content…
In the end, he is just a reporter, but i believe, he has defiantly made and impact. Even if the impact was just on me. Thanks to him, once controversial topics are now freely being discussed and argued. Hes paved the way to actually discuss these things without becoming a total social pariah. Hes inspired more youtubers to to the same thing, but with different perspectives. What he does is fearless, and it inspires me. It makes me have pride in my country, because he points out all the freedoms we have that the other world doesn't. It's bittersweet because then he shows the people who are trying to take away our freedoms and that our trying to censor us. He shows an incredible example of awareness, and perspective. Though I don't want a job in journalism, and I dont think ill be doing anything close to what he's doing right now, I think his mindset, speaking skills, awareness is something to definitely try to intimate by adapting them into my everyday situations and daily life. He inspires me to be a better person, to learn about what's happening in the world, to learn about our government, to take a second or third look at things. He taught me to never be content, and to always want some more, and to always strive to be a better person. He may not be exactly, “the wing beneath my wings,” but he's definitely someone who has impacted my life in a positive way, and I think he's a great role

In “De-Islamizing Sikhaphobia: Deconstructing Structural Racism in Wisconsin Gurdwara Shooting 10/12”, Birk, Gill, and Heer (2015) examine the media portrayal of the shooting of a Sikh gurdwara in 2012 where a gunman killed six individuals and injured four others. The media representation of the Sikh community after this event demonstrates how racialized individuals are Othered by the media, especially through the homogenization of brown bodies, despite the diversity of this racialized group (Birk et al. 2015:98). Many Canadians and Americans see the Muslim and Sikh communities as the same, and as a result, many acts of violence have been committed against Sikhs although the intended target was Muslims, particularly after the September 11th…

Since 9/11, the United States has created measures to protect the country from what was not prevented on that historical day. These measures consist of “mass arrests, secret and indefinite detentions, prolonged detention of ‘material witnesses,’ closed hearings and use of secret evidence, government eavesdropping on attorney-client conversations, FBI home and work visits, wiretapping, seizures of property, removals of aliens with technical visa violations, and mandatory special registration (215).” Most of these measures have targeted Arabs and Muslims living in the United States. Because of such measures, the public has labeled them as dangerous, which in turn as brought up several concerns about civil rights and safety. Although these provisions…

He not only breaks down his arguments into easy to navigate misperceptions but also will start each of the points off with the opposing argument. For example, before Ungar addresses how liberal arts is a good education path because it includes not only art but English, science, and math he explains how the STEM field is where everyone 's focus is at and how that is where you will be most successful. Although I have never seen this before I think this works to his advantage considering it gives you both views but only an explanation of the choice he is getting you to agree on. It also establishes credibility one again by having seen both sides of the argument. He poses the problem and then suggests a way around it.…

Throughout this Spring Semester we discussed many different social justice issues all completely different, but none the less important. Our class adapted a learning through discussion type of approach; rather than being lectured for three hours we all discussed different topics, had debates, asked questions, stated our opinions on controversial topics, etc. The class was intriguing making it one of my favorite classes to go to. A couple of the topics we discussed were human and sex trafficking, the difference between internalized dominance versus internalizing oppression, discrimination and racism. Human and sex trafficking are not something a lot of people know or hear much about besides what they see on law and order or CSI: Miami.…

With the recent influx of Muslim immigrants seeking shelter and safety, Europe’s response to this problem, and also that of the United States of America, have highlighted the recent rise of Islamophobia that is spreading across the western globe. Islamophobia a fairly recent word, being inducted into the Oxford English Dictionary in 1997 (Sheridan:1), is the specify dislike or hatred of the religion of Islam and the Muslim people. The explanation of the recent rise of this bigotry is the direct result of the recent conflicts with the Middle East. This sociologic topic is specifically interesting because, where you are seeing a lot of the prejudice is some of the most developed countries. While Germany has recently announced it would be opening its borders for all refuges seeking asylum, many other world powers have lagged.…

There is no reason for the United States to return to internment camps and segregation with the progress for equality ongoing, but with the rise of terrorism and racial targeting, Muslims are scapegoats in a country that is constantly undergoing change. Islamophobia, or the fear of Islam, is not the reason to justify hate crimes against millions of people attempting to live their lives. Muslims do not have the opportunity to seek justice like the Civil Rights movement groups did as Muslims are already seen as a threat to US society and will be meet with strong resistance from all sides, even among their own people. Exploring how Islam impacts United States culture and society, demonstrating how Islamophobia is spread through social media and…
