For example, Harriet Tubman used many different similes to make the reader think more about the object in the sentence, whereas there aren’t many similes in the poem Sympathy. There is also the almost obvious difference in how they are written, One is written as a story, where the details are not entirely true, and the other is written as a poem, which use symbolism to give its true meaning. Although the themes are the same in the two pieces, the feeling of the authors towards each piece are different. Ann Petry has an attitude of amazement and even gratitude, partially because Harriet Tubman, at least for most of the characters, has a happy ending.…

This really depends on the reader themselves and preferably them be coming of age as well. Both poems can intrigue different readers and sometimes maybe even the same readers. When reading about love one can assume that people want to be able to feel and relate to what the author is saying. A person of younger age might be able to relate to “She Walks In Beauty” because they know how it feels to have a crush on another kid and see their effortless beauty. For those who might have experienced something around the lines of what is described in the “Morning Poem” then they can feel exactly how the writer felt, which might be harder for a child to experience since they probably have not experienced…

The Style both poems use is extremely similar since these are poems written by the same author, the structure is similar and it is clear that the poems are written by the same person. One key difference is in how descriptive “Address to the Moon” is compared to “The Ocean”. Address to the Moon” had the upper hand when it comes to description. The words are very vivid and this can already be seen from the first two lines being “How sweet the silver Moon's pale ray, Falls trembling on the distant bay,” as the poem goes on the descriptions keep this vivid language and it is shown that this poem is truly and ode to the moon. Hawthorne’s other poem, “The Ocean” doesn’t have this gorgeous way of describing its main subject, since the poem…

On the other hand, Elizabeth Browning starts her poem by counting her love as she has forgotten how big it is due to its enormity. She says, “How do I love thee? Let me count the ways”, this showed how Browning’s love was more on the bases of remembering and counting her love for her husband, Bradstreet on the other hand bases it on expressing it directly to her husband, but they both focus widely on how much they can experience the size of their love. It’s quite interesting how they both share the similarity in their poems of an appraising…

Many implications can be drawn out from the poem besides just the beautiful portion of his people. Towards the last stanza of the poem, lines 5-6, the narrator changes the sentence structures around to give his final thoughts about his people. He starts out with the words “beautiful” (line 5) instead of starting with an analogy like he has done so in the prior two stanzas because in a way, he is wrapping the poem up with something more then just a body part from his people. The narrator goes into more depth in the last line of the poem, “beautiful, also, are the souls of my people” (line 6). Now the narrator is ending it with something big, something that goes into deeper feelings and gives the poem more meaning.…
