In the story of Oedipus, there are several examples that show man’s relationship with the truth. The oracle predicts the truth about the future of Laius, Jocasta, and Oedipus. Killing his father and marrying his mother are both examples of what the oracle predicted about them. In Oedipus Rex, Sophocles shows that, in the case of finding truth, if a man starts in search for the truth, he must find the whole truth, but if a man never starts in search for the truth, he can stay ignorant of the truth. The story of Oedipus shows that the better of the two is staying ignorant of the truth.…

Oedipus Tyrannus is the tragic story of a man fated to kill his father and bed his mother (Sophocles, 2016). Something good about this short story by Franz Kafka is that it leaves a huge room for interpretation by the reader. The reader can thus be left to selectively choose the aspects that they fancy and award them the interpretations they wish to. That does not, however, mean the analyses should be erroneous or inexistent. Subliminally, albeit subtly, the issue of the unresolved Oedipus complex in this story cannot be overlooked, and this paper sets out to illustrate just how it leaked onto the literary piece, ‘The Judgment.’ Greek mythology is ancient as they go, and can only compete with the Shakespearean literature when it comes to popularity.…
