There are many works of literature, like Macbeth or Othello, that focus on characters of high authority who are stripped away from their noble title. In some stories these characters are their own worst enemy, while in other tales, it is the dearest people surrounding them that is accountable for their destruction. For instance, in Sophocles’s The Oedipus Cycle and the book of Job, protagonists Oedipus and Job seek to find the truth as they are brought down from a high position of power. Along with their tremendous suffering, both men are presumed guilty and innocent by the people closest to them. However, Oedipus and Job experience different outcomes when the truth behind their suffering is revealed.
