However, they did not embark on the journey alone, each had a crew that came with them.…

Another difference between the film and The Odyssey is that in the poem Odysseus stayed in Polyphemus’ cave for one night and one morning until Polyphemus son of Poseidon returned the next day in which they blinded him by heating up a sharp iron stick and stabbing him in the eye. However, in the movie, the whole blinding Polyphemus scene happened on the same day but this time Odysseus and his men used a wooden stick to blind him. In the film we only see two of Odysseus’ men get eaten by Polyphemus when in the poem six of his men were eaten. We also find that in the film Odysseus and his men escape Polyphemus by putting sheep fur on top of their body when in the poem it says they escape by riding the belly of one sheep. This was the reason why…

Both Telemachus-Odysseus son-and Odysseus himself experienced this. When Odysseus leaves for war, Telemachus is only an infant, but now he has become a young teenager. During his teenage years, like many others, Telemachus struggles with finding his identity and voice. These struggles contribute to him not being able to handle the suitors, who have overtaken his father’s house in his absence. However, these imperfections will be rectified, when goddess Athena sends him on a quest (to the city of Nestor and Sparta) to discover information about his father.…

He is not the man everyone thinks he is. To begin with, the epic the Odyssey is about the return of the “great” king of Ithaka, Odysseus, from the Trojan War. He spends ten years fighting the war and is now on his way home where he is creating tension that is prolonging his return to Ithaka.…

Throughout this voyage, Odysseus constantly speaks and thinks of returning home to Penelope and their son Telemachus, a thought that allows him to persist through all odds for twenty years. Odysseus’ absence from his household has left it unprotected and vulnerable to forces that might ruin its integrity, a great fear that makes his need to return home so urgent and strong, as Odysseus describes: “‘Yet, it is true, each day I long for the sight of home. If any god has marked me out again for shipwreck, my tough heart can undergo it. What hardship have I not long since endured at sea, in battle! Let the trial come’”(V.228-33).…

The famous epic poem by Homer, The Odyssey, tells of Odysseus’ tumultuous journey back to his home on the island of Ithaka. Odysseus, the main character in the epic poem, appears to be the hero slaying the monsters, but as his journey continues it becomes more difficult to distinguish who the monster really is. Upon closer inspection, the true monster is not one of the various mythical creates Odysseus faces, but is instead Odysseus himself. Passages from book nine and book 22 of The Odyssey, demonstrate how the true monster is actually Odysseus. Odysseus and his men arrive on an island, in book nine, and enter a cave seeking to steal any valuable loot they can find.…

After, the encounter with the Kyklops, Odysseus went from island to island for many years encountering many dangerous situations, which eventually cast all of his man lives. All those year allowed Odysseus to change the way he is, to become more patient, cautious, and a person who planned before doing something.
