Comparing Oceans With Salt Water

Improved Essays
The difference between Oceans with salt, and freshwater lakes with no salt, is that salt water takes longer to boil because of the molecular properties. The salt increases the boiling temperature, which makes the tendency for the water to evaporate is greater than the tendency for the water to remain on a molecular level. When the salt is added, the phenomenon known as “boiling point elevation” occurs. Which, involves the old school chemistry the solute, the solvent, and the solution. Chefs swear on salt making the water boil, but it just makes the water temperature rise, but the boiling temperature does not rise. Salt water requires more exposure to heat for the boiling temperature to increase. The heat capacity that is needed for the water

Salt is used for a wide variety of purposes in every society every day. This is common knowledge. However, salt is actually more vital to human history and existence than most people think. Mark Kurlansky, author of Salt: A World History tells the story of human suffering, greed, enterprise and conquest in a surprising way: by telling the story of salt. As Kurlansky says in his introduction, “Salt is so common, so easy to obtain, and so inexpensive that we have forgotten that from the beginning of civilization until about 100 years ago, salt was one of the most sought after commodities in human history”…

The results of the lab were indicated that the rate of difference for evaporation of water with salt was higher than water with sugar. This result also means that the time of evaporation of water with salt was faster than water with sugar since the higher rate of difference means the faster of evaporation. Moreover, for the rate of difference for evaporation of water with salt, it increased as the amount of teaspoon increased. This result showed that for water with salt, the more amount of salt added in the water, the faster the evaporation time occurred. However, the rate of difference for evaporation of water with sugar was opposite since it decreased as the amount of teaspoon increased.…

For two weeks, I stayed in Charleston, South Carolina. I didn’t know much about the place, except that I referred to it as an army town because that’s where my sister and her husband, who was in the military, stayed. I was reluctant to go, but Charleston had a lot to offer me; a new change of pace and some new scenery was much more satisfying than spending the two weeks stuck in Iowa doing the same old routine. The weather was mystical in Charleston.…

When heating hydrates to a very high temperature, the physical bonds are broken and the water is then evaporated from the substance. Prior to heat being added to the magnesium sulfate heptahydrate, the substance was very brittle in tiny little pieces. However, after heat was added to the substance for several minutes, the substance became very powdery and more condensed than before.…
